TaylorMade golf clubs
TaylorMade golf clubs have more than just a satisfying feel to them when you tighten your grip on one and address a ball. They generate confidence.
At least that's my reaction.
I think this has something to do with the company's story. You probably know how founder and golfer, Gary Adams, during the 1970s noticed the-then new two-piece golf balls would fly faster off an iron than a wood and determined to fix the problem.
His solution was the metalwood Original, which he put on the market in 1979. Within five years metalwoods were the choice of the pros and TaylorMade was on its way to becoming a major player. (No pun intended!)
TalorMade golf clubs - course performance
Today their clubs are used by both high and low handicappers. Their larger drivers will forgive you a less than perfect strike, if your handicap is reasonably high. This is built in to the design of the head, and will ease your progress up the fairway when your golfing buddies are having a better day than you. But its a fact that the smaller TaylorMade clubs are less forgiving on mishits, so high handicappers need to take this into consideration.
Shaft weight on TaylorMade clubs can be slightly heavy. Ask about this when you're buying. If you handicap is high this need not concern you as long as you are reasonably fit and strong. But for the low handicapper, of course, this is exactly what you want. The small amount of extra weight will make the impact more stable. So you'll get a flush of satisfaction when you strike the ball well with one of these clubs.
Used or discount clubs?
TaylorMade changes club designs and lines fairly often. This reduces the resale value of discontinued lines of clubs, but any TaylorMade club is expensive so it's unlikely you are buying one now with the intention of holding on to it only for a few seasons. The quality and technology built into TaylorMade clubs will last longer than that. And, anyway, there are discounts for new clubs, and bargain used clubs, out there on the Internet and at golf exchanges.
