Ladies golf clubs
Ladies play a lot of golf.
There are around 2.5 million of them playing eight or more rounds a year in the US, which in 2006 was 18.3 percent of the 12.8 million "core" golfers on all our greens. And over 14 million of them play occasionally.
What's more ladies are coming into golf at a faster rate than men, because the annual growth rate for adult core golfers in the 15 years from 1990 was 2.4 percent for the ladies, but only 1.1 percent for the men
That is a lot of ladies golf clubs!
A lady golfer will choose a lighter, shorter club than a man. Her choice of grip will probably be shorter than standard. Also, a purpose-built set of ladies clubs can have graphite shafts, rather than steel, which give them more flex than a man's set. That's an advantage. And ladies will gravitate to club heads with more loft.
Clubs like this are made by all the major club manufacturers. They will help a lady strike the ball further and find more forgiveness for her weight, height and strength than a man's stiffer, heavier, longer club would. And heads with loft will keep the ball in the air longer and allow the lady to work the direction of her shot.
There is a sharp difference between clubs for men and for ladies. So it's good to aspire to a set of ladies golf clubs, as you begin to play.
Shop around for them and don't settle for less.
Quality ladies clubs will cost more than you will probably want to pay, but good equipment will boost your confidence on the course, help you hit further and you'll be more accurate than the other ladies you play with.
